Top 10 Albums of all time
|
|
|
|
|
|
1- The Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd)
no matter what kind of mood you're in .. when listening to this album you're definitely gonna change .. it doesn't matter what type of music you're into .. this is by far an album that transcends moods and time ..
with an astonishing start making your heart beat in expectation .. you are quickly drawn inside the psychadelic music of the seventies .. giving you a strange feeling that you are flying .. filled with very mental lyrics and lots of out of time composition .. and with one of a kind (The Great Gig in the Sky) .. right till the end when you come to the conclusion provided in a small commentary (there's no dark side of the moon really .. matter of fact it's all dark) .. you are dazzled by the brilliance of Roger Waters talent .. 10/10
2- Scenes from a Memory (Dream Theatre)
this is one of the rare theme albums that are filled with emotions .. I can't imagine the state of mind of the writer and composer when he came up with this album .. the therapist theme going on all the time .. the tragic story of Victoria .. not affecting the progressive rock style of the band .. only adding more maturity to the music .. it’s really hard not to lose yourself in the music of this masterpiece .. 10/10
3- A Stranger in Us All (Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow)
as far as I believe .. this was the last album from the old school of rock up till this day .. and the fact that Rainbow was named Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow was not just in the honor of his presence .. the fact that his guitar was roaring all the time .. the fact that he entered a sense of new style of rock to one of the best tracks on the album (Black Masquerade) .. and the fact that (Blackmore’s Night band) was created after the astonishing (Ariel) .. not to forget the unbelievable work on Drums and the amazing vocals of Doogie White .. just makes this album a way too great - rock from the old school - experience .. 10/10
4- Life For Rent (Dido)
This is the only album that is not a rock album in my list .. amazingly .. it’s one of the favorites by all the rock fans .. and by all music fans in the world .. it’s hard for a pop album to be all good .. Dido broke this rule .. not to under estimate her first album (No Angel) but this is a perfect album unlike the first one .. the music applies to everyone .. the lyrics falls to the hearts of everyone .. and the touching voice of Dido touches the hearts of everyone .. 10/10
5- A Matter of Life and Death (Iron Maiden)
who would’ve thought that after the big failure of their last two albums .. Iron Maiden will come back with a perfect one?! .. not only perfect it was .. it was their best ever!!
Was it not the voice of Bruce Dickinson .. you would’ve thought it was a different band .. the maturity of the music and the lyrics .. the perfectly timed war theme .. the astonishing presence of Adrian Smith on the lead guitars .. and the best metal track in ages (Brighter than a thousand suns) .. you’ll become a metal fan .. even if you’re not!!
To be continued ..

6- The Wall (Pink Floyd)
This is the longest selling album on the face of the earth .. it’s the most influential and the most creative album in the history of music .. what is so special about it is the fact that it’s one of rare albums that feature more than one musical style in one album .. it’s a rock album, a musical play, a political satire and one hell of a psychedelic journey .. by the end of which .. you find yourself shouting unconsciously “tear down the wall”!
9/10
7- Youthanasia
Megadeth for me has always been the one hit band .. every time they made a new album it’s usually crab .. unless for one song .. it would be a great hit .. this album must have taken lots of heroin and liquor to be a perfect album .. you have it all .. slow .. heavy .. patriotic .. crazy .. it’s all in this album .. except for one thing .. Megadeth never wrote words that made any sense!
9/10
8- The Wake of Magellan (Savatage)
This album takes you on a beautiful journey in the sea .. takes you through the (storm)s .. breaks you on a stony shore (watching the morning sun) .. and finally makes you feel the taste of sand spilled from the (hourglass) .. with the great voice of Zak Stevens .. and the incredible guitar of Chris Caffery
8/10
9 - Nevermind (Nirvana)
when listening to Nirvana you feel like you wanna take your car and jump over a bridge .. for some reason .. when you hear this very particular album .. you want to go back to high school .. you want to take a gun and shoot everybody .. by far this the most disturbing album of all time .. yet .. it gives you a strange feeling of ultimate satisfaction .. this is how it works for me!
8/10
10 - Metallica (Metallica)
I never liked Metallica .. but let’s give the guys some credit for this album .. if Nirvana’s album is a very disturbing album .. this one takes you a step farther .. it’s a very mentally ill album .. the scariest by some degree .. it keeps singing in your head .. in your sleep .. when you wake up .. and every time you open your drawer looking for something to listen to .. it just pops up to your hand .. like saying “you hear me or you die”!
8/10

Wow Balawalashee
This must be titled "The musical Encyclopedia" rather. I have enjoyed reading your short report on each album, the fact that you have provided enough reason on "WHY" a particular product is being favored by you or by fans; it does intrigue me a great deal.
I wish i were able to similarly share views on the genres you have disucssed here. Problem is, I only experienced rock music as a teenage and i can hardly remember how I felt towards it and what my response was then. Rock music DOES in deed appeal to the needs of the human emotion; perhaps it stems from the theory of purgation and "catharasis" whose foundations were laid by one of the earliest literary figures in humanity: Aristotle.
I am so into New Age; my understanding, so far, is that unfortunately no-one shares same views on the genre.
But I love what you are doing here; I shall keep reading your interpretation of the albums you enjoy.
And for Dido, I give her five stars.

Don't Want to crestisize, you said earlier it is personal favorites, but many major albums for major band woould belown to the top ten list:
The Doors - The Doors
Led Zeppelin - 4th Album
Deep Purple - In Rock
Bob Dylan - Blood on the tracks
once I have more time I will list why I think these albums would belong tho the list
Personally I like quiet music just as much as I like loud music

I'm back with a couple of reviews about some new albums .. when I say "new" it means that I just heard the album .. and it's not necesarily new .. it could be from the 60s!!
1- Hey Eugene! (Pink Martini) 2007
an amazing album .. very recommended if you're into cultural music .. this is the third album by this band .. a little below their previous one (Hang on Little Tomato) .. but more international .. with tracks in Japanese (Taya Tan .. which is my favorite one for this album) and an Arabic Song, and some of the regular Hispanic and English songs .. it's very classic .. it makes you feel totally numb ..
HIGHLY recommended
2- Jazizza (Aziza Mustapha Zadeh) 1997
This album is so slow that it drives me crazy .. highly recommended if you wanna sleep .. but the only credit for the album goes to the amazing voice of Aziza ..
I don't know .. it's just too slow for me
3- Tyrany of souls (Bruce Dickinson) 2007
The worst album of Bruce .. stinks big time .. don't waste your time or money!
I had very high hopes for it!! damn
