Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Otri on Wednesday said that al-Ittihad team's winning the 2010 AFC Cup is an achievement for the Syrian football that brought back the splendor of the Syrian football.
Meeting the coaching staff and members of al-Ittihad team, Otri congratulated them on this victory and pointed out to the great interest of Syria, under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, in sports through providing its success factors.
Prime Minister urged the team to continue training to win more championships, hoping this victory would place the Syrian sport on the road to victory.
Otri presented to the team players awards in appreciation of their performance at the AFC Cup.
For his part, Aleppo Governor Ali Ahmad Mansoura stressed that this victory is an achievement for Syria and that it enhances the position of Syrian sport.
Chairman of al-Ittihad Club Mohammad Afash pointed out to the popular reception and interest the team received coming back from Kuwait with the Asian Cup.
